Who are we? John Baker and Jim Rivers: Just two guys who happen to love the outdoors with a genuine passion. We've been told by too many people that our enthusiasm is contagious for us not to believe it. We're both dedicated cyclists, hikers, backpackers and paddlers. Our Concerns 1. Safety: We both have extensive medical training and experience in backcountry first aid. We know that nothing ruins a backcountry adventure faster than injury. That's why safety is our number one concern. 2. Impact: Running a close second on our list of concerns is the impact we have on the Earth that sustains us. We strive to leave the smallest impact possible when camping, hiking or pursuing any of the activities we love. We're not going to foul our own nest. 3. Fun: Being outdoors should be a fun, relaxing and reinvigorating experience. Strenuous exercise outdoors reinforces one's connection to the world around them. HAGS' goal is to give you the opportunity to unplug from the day to day grind and hook back up to the greater fabric of the natural world. What do we do? We offer custom road and mountain bike tours of varying lengths ranging from one day to one week. We offer camping accommodations or inn/bed & breakfast accommodations. We handle all of the details including transportation to and from the embarkation point, all snacks and meals, mechanical support and SAG support along the route (where possible). All you do is show up with your bike and we're off. Contact us at Jtbroad@hotmail.com or (865)609-8282 to set up your adventure. Other Stuff we do? We also have been known to put on a race or two. The 12 Hours of the Hill of Truth is one of our biggies. The 4th edition will be on November 2nd at Haw Ridge Park. Click the link a the top of the page for info. In the Spring we put on the River Road Time Trial and South Knoxville Road Race. For you non competitors, try out the Mt Larry Metric Century. We completed our 3rd edition on September 22nd. Check back at this site for upcoming editions of this Fall classic. We're considering a Spring wildflowers tour for Spring 2003. Look in News and Events for details. |
